Cape Verde's national team has had a rocky start contrary to expectations in the Africa Cup of Nations Qualification 2027, just weeks after their historic and impressive participation in the FIFA World Cup.
The "Blue Sharks" fans were shocked after the team lost its first two matches, placing them at the bottom of their group in the Africa Cup of Nations Qualification.
The team suffered their first away defeat against Mali, ranked 53rd in the world, losing 3–1, before experiencing the bitterness of another defeat at home in front of their fans, losing 2–1 to Rwanda, ranked 128th in the world.
It has become imperative for the coaching staff and players to quickly correct their course and regain the levels they showcased in the FIFA World Cup, in order to revive their hopes of securing one of the qualification spots and returning to compete strongly in the upcoming rounds of the Africa Cup of Nations Qualification.
