Dutch coach Louis van Gaal believes he may have suffered from "all the consequences and suffering" resulting from his dismissal as Manchester United manager due to what he described as a financial cheating scandal linked to Manchester City.

Manchester United sacked Van Gaal at the end of the 2015-2016 season after the team failed to qualify for the Champions League, finishing fifth in the Premier League table.

Manchester City secured fourth place and the final qualification spot for the UEFA Champions League, thanks to their superior goal difference, despite both teams finishing with 66 points. This achievement comes in the last season under manager Manuel Pellegrini at the helm of the Sky Blues.

Louis van Gaal's remarks come in the context of the controversy surrounding Manchester City and the allegations of financial misconduct directed at them, which the Dutch coach believes may have been behind his inability to continue in his role at Manchester United.
