Mexican coach Javier Aguirre arrived in Valencia on Thursday morning, amid significant interest and security presence at Manises Airport, to begin his new mission with the Spanish team until the end of the season, with an option to extend for an additional season.
Javier Aguirre spoke about his reasons for agreeing to take over as manager of Valencia, saying: "The institution and history are what drove me to come. I spent 15 seasons in Spain, and Valencia was like a fortress when we came to play at their stadium; that has to return, so that opponents find it very difficult to get anything from here. What attracts me a lot is the history of the club and its fans."
The Mexican coach knows the size of the task that awaits him, as Valencia occupy 19th place in LaLiga after seven rounds with only four points. However, he emphasized that the season is still long, adding: "There is a lot of work to be done, as there are still many league matches to play, and there are things that need to be addressed."
Javi Aguirre has expressed his confidence in Valencia's squad to escape the danger zone, stating: "The squad must be capable of not suffering like this, but the circumstances are what they are. There is a lot of individual quality, and we will try to make the best use of the group. In some matches, they deserved more, and the recent matches have been great."
Javier Aguirre will take on his new role alongside his assistants, Paul Yurente and Toni Amor, who arrived at Valencia on Wednesday. The new coaching staff began their work on Thursday morning at the Paterna Sports City, where Aguirre led his first training session with the team.
