Andros Townsend has revealed the terrifying moments he experienced after being struck by a roller during warm-up in Thailand, in an incident that could have caused serious injury to the player.
Former Tottenham, Crystal Palace, and Everton player Andros Townsend was preparing with his teammates at BT Brisbane for a match against Pathum United in the Thai league when one of the workers lost control of a roller, which headed towards the player and struck him, before coming to a stop near his waist.
Townsend said in his testimony about the incident: "I thought it was over for me," explaining that at that moment he felt his football career might have come to an end, especially as the roller had passed over his legs while his teammates rushed to save him.
In a surprising turn of events, the 35-year-old player managed to get up and continue warming up before participating in the final minutes of the match, which ended with his team Brisbane Roar winning 3-0. Reports confirmed that he did not suffer any serious injury, despite sustaining bruises from the incident.
