"The best team won the FIFA World Cup, and no one can say otherwise. It was an exceptional tournament. Spain dominated with the ball and without it, and it was wonderful to watch. In fact, they were the only team I didn't want to face, because they are very difficult and we have always struggled against them."
Thierry Henry discussed Spain's defensive organization, explaining: "People talk about the only goal Spain conceded or about individual details, but I am almost certain they only conceded ten shots on target throughout the tournament. When you press well and ensure the opponent stays away from your goal, this is what happens."
A former star of FC Barcelona and Arsenal has pointed out that Spain's style of play has not changed, stating: "The game has changed, but Spain has not changed; they play the same way. I am always surprised when people talk about how to stop Spain, saying you have to do this or that. But when you don't have the ball, you have to play football without it, so how do you do that against a team like Spain?".
Thierry Henry has refused to downplay the value of the current generation compared to the golden generation that included Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Puyol, and Ramos. He stated: "Perhaps people in the past would say: with the team of Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Puyol, and Ramos, they must win. But they did not understand that it was also a team. Perhaps people now realize the value of teamwork more because the current names are not as famous, but the essence is the same."
