French newspaper 'L'Équipe' has highlighted rising Moroccan talent Abdellah Ouazane, an Ajax Amsterdam player, noting that the 17-year-old midfielder possesses exceptional qualities that make him one of the promising names in the future of Moroccan football.

The newspaper dedicated a report titled 'Abdellah Ouazane: the new jewel of Morocco', reviewing the young player's journey, his beginnings with the national teams, alongside his development with Ajax and the expectations placed on him during the upcoming international competitions.

Abdellah Ouazane was born in Amsterdam in January 2009 but chose to represent Morocco, his parents' country, after trials with youth teams in the Netherlands and Morocco. He made a strong impression during the FIFA World Cup U-17 in 2025, hosted by Morocco, where he was awarded the Best Player of the tournament and contributed to leading the Moroccan national team to the continental title after winning against Mali on penalties, with a score of 4-2, following a goalless draw.

The report also recalled Abdellah Ouazane's beginnings with the Morocco national team, after coach Mohamed Wahbi gave him the chance to appear for the first time on September 25, during the victory over Gabon by two goals to nil in Rabat. According to the newspaper, the player became the second youngest to wear the Morocco national team jersey in an official match, behind Hachim Mastour, who made his international debut in 2015 against Libya at the age of sixteen.

At the club level, Abdellah Ouazane continues to rise within the Ajax system, having been promoted to the under-19 team for the 2024-2025 season, before the club included him in the first team in the summer of 2026, under the management of the Spanish coach Ángel Sánchez, known as "Michel", after his name was previously linked with a potential move to Real Madrid.

The Moroccan player has drawn attention since his first official appearance with the first team of Ajax in the Netherlands on August 16, when he scored a remarkable goal with a curled shot from outside the penalty area that settled in the top corner of the net, benefiting from regaining the ball in an advanced area.

L'Équipe highlighted Abdellah Ouazane's ability to occupy more than one position in midfield, as well as the possibility of deploying him on the wings, which gives him space to develop his speed and defensive contributions. However, the player feels more comfortable in the midfield area, whether in the role of an advanced midfielder or a playmaker.

Nabil Baha, his former coach in the Morocco U17 national team, praised his technical and tactical abilities, confirming that he possesses a football intelligence that exceeds what is typically expected from a player of his age.

The newspaper concluded its report by highlighting Abdellah Ouazane's ambition to participate in the FIFA World Cup 2030, which will be hosted by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal, with the hope of continuing his development and turning the high expectations surrounding him into achievements at the highest level.
