Manchester City announced on its official website that striker Omar Marmouch has suffered a knee injury while participating with the Egypt national team during the international break.

Marmouch sustained the injury early in the match against Burkina Faso, part of the World Cup qualifiers, which took place on Tuesday evening.

Initial examinations conducted on the player in Egypt revealed that he will not be available to participate in the highly anticipated Manchester Derby match next Sunday.

The player is scheduled to return to Manchester for further medical examinations and to begin the rehabilitation phase.
