Martin Ødegaard, Arsenal's captain and Norway's national team player, has received positive news regarding the ankle injury he sustained during Norway's 2-1 loss to Portugal in the UEFA Nations League.
Martin Ødegaard suffered a challenge from the Portuguese Bernardo Silva after he had passed the ball, which caused him to injure his ankle. Despite the injury, the Arsenal captain completed the match, but he appeared to be limping during the final minutes.
Martin Ødegaard has undergone an X-ray examination, confirming no serious damage to his ankle. The player has not yet returned to group training, but his condition has shown clear improvement, according to statements from Norway national team coordinator Brede Hangeland.
Hangland said: "Martin was in the breakfast room, he was happy, and he felt less pain in his ankle compared to yesterday. The images did not show anything serious, and the most important thing is that he feels better. What we see in the images represents a specific moment, while he is still recovering, and the progress is positive."
Hangland indicated that the coaching staff hopes for Ødegaard's participation against Wales, stating: "There is no doubt about it, as far as I understand. We do not intend for him to be with us just to be present. The goal is for him to contribute on the pitch."
Norway coach Ståle Solbakken criticized Bernardo Silva's tackle, calling it "ugly" and close to deserving a red card, while Ødegaard expressed his anger at the challenge after the match.
