Parma have announced today, Tuesday, the appointment of Alberto Gilardino as the new head coach of the first team, with a contract running until the end of the 2026-2027 season, while the club retains the option to extend the contract for two additional seasons.
Alberto Gilardino returns to Parma after a long absence from the club, having previously worn the team's shirt between 2002 and 2005. During that time, he delivered impressive performances, scoring 56 goals in 116 matches for the team.
After retiring from football, Gilardino began his coaching career with Rezzato, then had stints with Pro Vercelli, Genoa, and Pisa, before today taking the helm at Parma. The 44-year-old coach has a FIFA World Cup title to his name, having won it with Italy in 2006.
Giacomo Giannini will join the coaching staff of Alberto Gilardino, with Gaetano Caridi as assistant coach, Francesco Vagliani as technical coach, Antonio Bufalini as fitness coach, and Mirko Vichi as match analyst.
Club president Kyle Jay Krause, CEO Federico Cherubini, and all Parma officials welcomed Gattuso and his coaching staff, wishing them success in the new phase with the team.
