Olympique Marseille faces the risk of financial and sporting penalties, which could include point deductions in the 2027-2028 season, according to French newspaper "L'Équipe".

This comes amid the strict oversight imposed by the National Authority for the Supervision and Financial Management of French clubs due to the club's failure, according to the report, to meet the financial commitments it undertook last summer.

The report indicated that Marseille could face precautionary sanctions as early as next winter, with point deductions being one of the potential measures, to be applied only if the club fails to address its financial situation by June 30, 2027.

In contrast, administrative relegation to the second division is not currently among the potential penalties, making it crucial to rectify the financial situation before the deadline to avoid sporting sanctions next season.
