Young Moroccan international Yassir Zabeeri is close to embarking on a new chapter in his professional career, having given his final approval to move to Racing Santander on loan during the current summer transfer window, pending the completion of the final procedures to officially close the deal.
French media reports reveal that the 20-year-old Moroccan forward has agreed to join the Spanish team, seeking more playing minutes after a decline in his presence with French club Rennes in recent times.
Sources indicate that the change in the coaching staff at Rennes was one of the main reasons that prompted Zabiri to seek a new destination, after losing his place following the departure of coach Habib Bey and the appointment of Franck Haise as the new head coach, which significantly pushed him out of the plans.
Rennes signed Zabiari during the last winter transfer window from Portuguese side Famalicão for €10 million, with a contract running until the summer of 2029. However, the player has not had a real opportunity to showcase his abilities, having only participated in six matches, during which he played just 42 minutes.
The Moroccan forward aims to regain his competitive rhythm through La Liga, hoping to restore his level and continue his development, relying on the potential he previously showcased, especially with the Moroccan U20 national team, when he finished as the top scorer in the FIFA U-20 World Cup, a feat that encouraged Rennes to sign him.
Racing Santander is poised to participate in next season's La Liga, marking a long-awaited return after 14 years. The club previously featured former Morocco national team coach Walid Regragui during his professional career.
