Torino has officially announced the signing of Swiss defender Eray Comert, who joins from Spanish club Valencia on a free transfer after his contract with the Spanish side expired. Comert has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2028.
Comert's move to Torino comes after the conclusion of his contract with Valencia on June 30, allowing the Italian club to strengthen its defense with a player who has experience in both La Liga and the Swiss league, as well as international appearances for the Switzerland national team.
The 28-year-old defender joined Valencia in January 2022 from Swiss side Basel, before experiencing loan spells with French club Nantes and Spanish side Real Valladolid. He returned to Valencia during last season before his contract expired and he departed permanently.
Torino hopes that Komert will be a strong addition to their defensive setup for the new season, as the club seeks to strengthen its ranks with players who have experience in European competitions, having secured the deal without paying any transfer fee to the previous club.
