Morocco has strengthened its position in fifth place in the FIFA World Rankings after beating Lesotho 2-0 today, in the second round of the Africa Cup of Nations Qualification 2027.
Morocco have climbed to fifth place before their match against Lesotho, having surpassed Brazil in the rankings, with Morocco's total reaching 1808.18 points compared to Brazil's 1805.91 points.
This historic advancement in the rankings comes after Morocco's remarkable journey during the FIFA World Cup 2026, where they managed to reach the quarter-finals, finishing the official ranking released in July in sixth place, before advancing to fifth in the live ranking.
Despite Brazil's victory in their friendly match against Australia, they were unable to reclaim fifth place, allowing Morocco to maintain their position after the match against Lesotho.
Morocco retains its position at the top of the rankings at both the African and Arab levels, continuing to strengthen its presence among the leading teams in the global ranking.
