Atlético have received a boost ahead of their clash with Alavés on Saturday, as Alejandro Grimaldo has participated in training on the pitch, making him a candidate to join the match.

According to the Spanish newspaper "AS", Grimaldo suffered a muscle strain while with the Spain national team, but he is gradually regaining his fitness, with plans to increase his training load in the coming days in preparation for joining group training.

Atlético have welcomed Morten Hjulmand to training, but he only worked in the gym, while Alexander Sørloth and Pablo Barrios trained normally with the group. The duo looks set to feature against Alavés.

Ademola Lookman has returned to Atlético training under Diego Simeone after being excused from Nigeria's match against Russia, as the team continues to regain its players ahead of Saturday's clash.
