The Gulf Football Association has named the Best Player Award at 'Gulf 27' after Prince Khalid bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz, in recognition of his prominent role in the Gulf sports journey.

Prince Khalid Al Faisal is linked to the history of the Arabian Gulf Cup, having proposed the idea of holding the tournament in 1968 while serving as the Director General of Youth Welfare.

The idea became an official tournament with the launch of the first edition in Bahrain in 1970, and the Gulf Cup has continued for more than five decades as a sporting event bringing together the Gulf countries.

The award was named as part of an initiative by the Arab House, the official sponsor of 'Gulf 27', with the approval of the Gulf Football Association, and a housing unit has been allocated for the winner.

The winner of the Prince Khalid Al Faisal Award for Best Player will be revealed after the final of the Gulf Cup 27 between Saudi Arabia and the UAE, during the awards ceremony and the distribution of individual prizes.
