Barcelona has received a formal notification from the Spanish Football Federation regarding the complaint filed by Atletico Madrid, which accuses the Catalan club of negotiating with Argentine striker Julian Alvarez despite his contract with the Rojiblancos running until the summer of 2030.
According to a report by the Spanish newspaper "Sport", the Spanish Football Federation has informed Barcelona of the opening of a case, granting the club a deadline to present its defenses and respond to the allegations.
The newspaper reported that Barcelona's legal team is currently preparing an official memo to defend the club's position, confirming that it will take all necessary measures to protect its interests.
Atletico Madrid's CEO Miguel Angel Gil previously announced that his club would approach FIFA regarding what he described as Barcelona negotiating with a player under a valid contract during the protected period. The club has since filed a complaint that has officially reached Barcelona.
Barcelona's management sees the complaint as unfounded, pointing out that Julián Álvarez himself expressed his desire to leave and pursue his "dream". This came before Barcelona made an offer of around €100 million to sign the player, an offer that Atlético Madrid still refuses to discuss.
Despite Julian Alvarez remaining a priority for the sporting management led by Deco to strengthen the striker position following Robert Lewandowski's departure, Barcelona has begun exploring other attacking options in anticipation of a potential failure in the deal, especially with Atletico Madrid holding firm and refusing to engage in direct negotiations with the Catalan club.
